Paul Chadwick
Paul Chadwick
Paul co-founded Nanuk in 2009 and is the firm’s Chairman with over 30 years’ professional investment industry experience. He was previously head of GMO Australasia where he had overall responsibility for the management of the Australian and Singaporean operations as well as being head of Systematic Global Macro strategies. Prior to GMO, he held senior roles at Westpac Investment Management including Global Tactical Asset Allocation product development, portfolio management and strategy research as well as broader firm-wide derivatives and quantitative investment management responsibilities. Before Westpac, he held various roles at James Capel Australia encompassing derivatives sales, trading, options pricing and more general, equity and asset allocation related, quantitative investment research. Paul holds degrees in Science and Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Sydney and is currently a director of the AIMA Global Council representing Asia Pacific.
Tim Ryan

Tim co-founded Nanuk in 2009 and is a director of the firm with over 35 years’ professional investment industry experience. He was previously chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Orion Asset Management which he founded in 2002. Prior to Orion, he was chief investment officer and a managing director at Credit Suisse Asset Management for seven years and earlier held various research and investment management roles including seven years at James Capel Australia where he was head of research and a member of the Australian Stock Exchange. Tim is a qualified accountant and holds an Economics degree from the University of Sydney.
Ivan Wheen

Ivan co-founded Nanuk in 2009 and is a director of the firm with nearly 40 years’ professional investment industry experience. He has managed a family investment office following his retirement in 1996 after a long career at Bankers Trust. At Bankers Trust his final role was Head of Global Investment Management based in New York where he was a managing director responsible for funds management in Europe, USA and Japan. His other roles with Bankers Trust included senior positions in trading and sales in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, U.K. and the USA. In his sixteen years at the firm, he also served on numerous and varied senior bank-wide supervisory committees. Ivan holds an honours degree in Commerce majoring in Finance from the University of New South Wales.

Tom joined Nanuk in 2009 and is a director of the firm, the firm’s chief investment officer and one of the firm’s portfolio managers with approximately 20 years’ investment industry experience in equity funds management, investment banking and private equity. He was previously an investment manager at Consolidated Press Holdings Limited, an Associate Director with NM Rothschild & Sons (Australia) Ltd and worked as an investment analyst with Australian equities fund manager Herschel Asset Management Ltd. Tom holds a first class honours degree in Engineering from the University of Melbourne.

Binya joined Nanuk in 2012 and is one of the firm’s portfolio managers with over 10 years’ investment industry experience. He was previously an analyst with Hawker Capital, a UK based investment manager responsible for a long/short fund investing in commodity futures and global listed equities in the resources sector. Prior to this he was an analyst with McKinsey & Co in its London office where he specialised in advising clients in the financial services and healthcare sectors. Earlier he worked with the Boston Consulting Group, also in London. Binya holds an honours degree in Modern History and Economics from Oxford University.

Tristan joined Nanuk in 2015 and is one of the firm’s portfolio managers with over 15 years’ equity investment management experience. He was previously a portfolio manager at Orion Asset Management for over 10 years and was responsible for long only Australian equities portfolios along with an Asia Pacific focused hedge fund with a global mandate. Tristan holds a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) Honours from the University of Sydney and a Master of Commerce (Funds Management) from the University of New South Wales. He also received the University Medal for Mathematics from the University of Sydney.

Peter joined Nanuk in 2021 and is one of the firm’s portfolio managers with over 25 years’ experience in global equities. Peter spent more than 20 years with the Templeton Global Equity Group in various senior analytical and portfolio management roles in the Bahamas, Fort Lauderdale and more recently Melbourne. Peter has a Masters of Economics degree from Macquarie University, qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and holds the CFA designation, having also been a past president of the CFA Society of Melbourne.

Marie joined Nanuk in 2022 with nearly 20 years in the investment industry. She previously worked as a global equities analyst at Platinum Asset Management. Prior to this, she was on the sell side as Head of Utilities and Infrastructure Equity Research for Australia and New Zealand at Citi. Marie is a CFA charterholder and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
John Lobb

John joined Nanuk in 2023 after previously working at Bankers Trust Australia, Citigroup Global Asset Management, Credit Suisse Global Asset Management and Orion Asset Management. John most recently worked for over 6 years at Insync Funds Management where he was investing globally in high quality businesses benefitting from global megatrends, many of which overlap with Nanuk’s focus. John holds a degree in economics from Macquarie University.

Dan joined Nanuk in 2017 and is the firm’s head of distribution with over 30 years’ investment industry experience. He is an experienced distribution professional in financial services across retail and institutional markets, covering sales, marketing, strategy, product development and web-based services in investment management, employer super, life insurance, platforms and investment advisors. Previously, he was employed with Bankers Trust Financial Services for 12 years in senior distribution roles for their investment management, platform and private client businesses and has also held leadership sales and marketing roles with ING Australia and AMP. Dan holds a degree in Business Marketing, Finance & Economics from Curtin University.

Greg joined Nanuk in 2019 and is the firm’s head of institutional sales with over 30 years’ experience in financial services client service and institutional sales roles. Greg was a partner for nearly 10 years at Apostle Funds Management and prior to that had senior sales and client service roles at Credit Suisse Asset Management, Macquarie Investment Management and Dimensional Funds Management. Greg is an active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Matthew joined Nanuk in 2020. He has 18 years of experience in financial services, specialising in funds management distribution, superannuation, platforms and advice. He spent 13 years at IOOF in senior leadership roles, managing platform distribution teams, and strategic sales processes. He then joined US firm State Street Global Advisors, in a role distributing their wide range of quantitative actively managed funds. More recently Matthew spent time at Prodigy Investment Partners as Director of retail sales and was responsible for the growth of their boutique affiliate strategies within the Australian retail advice landscape. Matthew holds degrees including a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from RMIT and a Diploma of Financial Planning.

Most recently, he was an Investor Relations Manager Ellerston Capital, and previously worked at AMP Capital, New Forests Asset Management and Colonial First State. Rory holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University and is currently undertaking a Master of Commerce at the University of New South Wales.

Melanie joined Nanuk in 2009 and is the firm’s chief operating officer with approximately 30 years’ investment industry business and operational management experience. She was previously employed at ABN AMRO where she had business management responsibility for the proprietary trading division, covering all market products including equities, FX, fixed income, credit, derivatives and commodities. She also held various roles within the equities division including equity derivatives product specialist, institutional equity swap desk manager and derivatives market execution. Melanie holds a degree in economics from Macquarie University.

Nicole joined Nanuk in 2015 and is the firm’s operations manager with over 30 years’ operations management experience in both investment management and stockbroking businesses. Throughout her career, Nicole has managed all aspects of transactional flow from new client onboarding (including AML and CTF requirements) through to transaction settlements and administration while at AMP, UBS, ABN AMRO and Ord Minnett.

Andrew joined Nanuk in 2021 as the Business Administration Manager with more than 25 years experience in the financial services industry. Andrew started his career in the United Kingdom and relocated to Australia in 2007 where he joined JPMorgan. Following this, he has worked with a number of boutique fund managers in operational and administrative roles. More recently Andrew performed an investment operations and analysis role with Quilla Consulting.

Irene joined Nanuk in 2023 and has over 10 years’ experience in the funds management industry working for various boutique fund managers and fund administrators. She has worked in roles across fund accounting, operations and client relationship management. She has been a key contributor in several migration projects, new fund launches and business development campaigns. Irene has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce – Accounting and Applied Finance from Macquarie University
